Hurricane Amfan wreaks havoc in India: Death toll rises

The hurricane of Amphan has wreaked havoc in West Bengal and Odisha. More than a dozen people have been killed in both the states. Both states were shaken by heavy rains and gale force winds late into the night. No one has seen or heard of such a catastrophe in the last several years. The speed of the wind seemed to be preparing to uproot everything on earth.

The people of Odisha and Bengal saw a glimpse of devastation within hours of the storm. Everything in Calcutta was in turmoil before the hurricane subsided. The city was flooded. The carriages floated like boats. Trees were uprooted from the roads. Huge hoardings, electric poles were also uprooted.

The hurricane was in full swing on Wednesday evening. Howrah Bridge also leaned in front of him. Storm winds came from above and below the bridge and wrapped it in such a way that the bridge stopped appearing. The roof of the school was also blown away by the strong winds in Howrah.

Relief operations continue

The scene of destruction in Bengal is in many places. Relief teams are trying to remove broken trees from the roads, but are not taking the name of completion of the work. Relief work is becoming more difficult due to floods on the roads.

The wind was blowing at a speed of 130 km per hour in Kolkata After the storm hit the coast of Bengal, the speed of the storm reached a speed of more than 180 kmph, while a few hours later the wind in the city of Kolkata continued to blow 130 kmph. The wind picked up speed per hour. The worst affected areas were West Bengal, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Midnapore and Kolkata.

10-12 people died in Bengal It is yet to be ascertained how much damage was caused by the storm in West Bengal, but CM Mamata Banerjee says at least 10-12 people have been killed. They say there is no accurate data on the exact number at the moment, but 10-12 people have been killed.

Three people lost their lives in Odisha

Odisha has been less affected by the cyclone than Bengal. The maximum impact was seen here in Balasore, Bhadrak and Kendrapada but even in these areas the wind speed was not more than 110 kmph. Despite this, 3 deaths have been reported in Odisha so far.

6 lakh people were evacuated

About six and a half crore people have been displaced in Bengal and Odisha. NDRF and paramilitary forces were also deployed to help such people in the aftermath of the storm. Many were also taken to hospital.
