Suddenly out of the river came the 60 feet high and 500 year old temple of Lord Vishnu


A 300-year-old temple in Orissa has emerged from a river. The temple began to appear out of the Shivla river. The temple is said to date back to the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. The temple had a statue of Lord Gopinath. Which is considered to be a form of Lord Vishnu. A team of archaeologists from the Indian National Trust Art and Culture Heritage said the people had discovered the temple. The temple is located in the middle of the river Padmavati, a tributary of the Mahanadi near Nayagarh in Orissa.

Deepak Kumar said that about 150 years ago, the river changed its course and caused rapid floods. This caused the temple and the surrounding area to sink. This happened in the 19th century. The villagers removed the idol of the god from the temple and walked to a higher place. Surrounding people say that there were 22 temples around Padmavati village which have been submerged in this river. But after all these years, the head of Lord Gopinath's temple appeared again.
"We are documenting all the historical heritage around the Mahanadi," said Anil Dhire, project coordinator of the Archaeological Survey of India. We are exploring other temples and premises in an area of ​​five kilometers around this temple. The villagers say that the head of this temple appeared 25 years ago. The villagers were appealed not to try to climb the temple as they are in the river.
