Joshua Wong is the name of this young leader from Ekwadia Bandha in Hong Kong.
A year ago, the Hong Kong administration introduced a bill that would have allowed protesters in Hong Kong to be taken to China and prosecuted. Young people in Hong Kong smelled China's bad intentions on the bill and took to the streets.
In fact Hong Kong has the status of an independent administrative unit despite being part of China. Hong Kong is called the special administrative region of China. Joshua led the protesters and forced the government to withdraw the bill. Most of the leaders of Joshua's political party Domestico are between the ages of 20 and 25.
Joshua Wang Chi-fung is the general secretary of the Democrats, the party that established democracy in Hong Kong. Before coming into politics he founded a student group Scholarzim. Wong came to the world's attention in 2014 for his movement in his home country, and was named one of the most influential young people of 2014 by the international magazine Time.
In 2015, Fortune Magazine also named him one of the world's great leaders. Wong was only 22 years old when he was nominated for the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize.

Wang was sent to prison in August 2017 along with two of his fellow activists. He was accused of occupying Civic Square in 2014. He was later arrested in January 2018 in connection with the 2014 protests. Joshua says the recent National Security Act is worse than the previous extradition law.
