Fake Facebook page in Gujarat diamond merchant's name promises cars for Rs 8,500

gujarat diamond merchant Savji Dholakia, who gifted 600 cars to his employees as Diwali gift last month, has lodged a police complaint after a fake Facebook page in his name tried to cheat people by promising cars for Rs 8,500.
Savjibhai Dholakia's PRO has lodged a complaint with the crime branch of Surat police.
For the past four years, Dholakia has been doling out expensive gifts such as cash, jewellery and even cars to his employees for Diwali. His benevolence has earned him a name across the country.
However, it has now invited cons to cheat people using his good repute.
At least five fake Facebook pages have surfaced in the name of Savjibhai Dholakia, complete with photos of him distributing new cars among his employees.
Along with these photos, the page has also posted a "scheme" through which people can own cars with the payment of Rs 8,500.
The page further mentions a bank account number and shows an identity card.
According to this "scheme", Dholakia would deposit Rs 6 lakh into the accounts of those who make a payment of Rs 8,500.
Soon, banks took note of the fraud attempt and cautioned customers against falling for this cheating attempt.
A case has been lodged with the Surat crime branch based on the complaint filed by Dholakia's office.
