What’s Google Photos?
Google photos are the storage
house where you can back up unlimited photos and videos for free. It supports
up to 16 megapixels and 1080p HD limit. You can access them from any device and
photos.google.com anytime you want
Turn
back up & sync on or off
Before
you start, make sure you're signed in.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google
Photos app .
- Sign in to your Google Account.
- At the top, tap Menu .
- Select Settings Back
up & sync.
- Tap "Back up & sync" on or off.

If
you've run out of storage, scroll down and tap Turn off backup.
Things
to keep in mind about this setting:
- Changing backup settings will affect all apps
that use Back up & sync, such as Google Drive.
- If you have Back up & sync
on, deleting the Google Photos app from your device will
not turn it off. To turn off Back up & sync, follow the
instructions above.
Change
your back up settings
- Choose the Google Account to back up photos and videos: Under "Backup account", tap the account name.
- Change your upload size: Tap Upload size. Learn more about upload sizes
- Back up device folders: Tap Back up device folders and select the folders you want to back up.
- Back up on mobile data: If you don’t want to wait for Wi-Fi to back up your photos, under "Cellular data back up," tap Photos or Videos. Charges from your service provider may apply if you upload using your mobile network.
- Back up while roaming: Under "When to back up," tap Roaming.
Check
if your photos are backed up
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google
Photos app .
- Sign in to your Google Account.
- Tap Photos .
- At the top, you'll see if your photos are backed
up, or if it's still waiting to back up.
How
to edit your google photos
Google
Photos offers relatively limited editing options. Open any photo that you’ve
backed up to the cloud, hit the sliders icon and you’ll be able to apply
filters, crop and rotate the image, and adjust colour and light settings.
It’s
closer to the experience of tweaking photos on your smartphone than a
comprehensive editing suite.
Again,
Google’s AI smarts add to the experience here. Hit the ‘For you’ tab and you’ll
find animated images, short movies and stylised photos created automatically by
Google Photos using snaps from your library. Like what you see? Click ’Save’ to
keep the edited picture.
How to backup
your google photo library to a hard drive
Google Photos should keep all of your
images safe and securely stored online, but it's always good practice to keep
two backups of your photos in different places. This means many people will
want to create an offline backup of their Google Photos library on a hard
drive.
Unfortunately, while it’s
straightforward to download a copy of your library, there’s no easy way to keep
that copy synced with Photos. Instead, you’ll need to periodically save your
entire Photos library using Google’s Takeout service.
To get
started, go to the ‘Download your data’ section of your account under ‘Manage
your data & personalization’, or head directly to Google Takeout.
Here you’ll see a list of the Google Apps with data you can export.
If you only want to download your Photos
library, tap ‘Deselect all’ then scroll down to Google Photos and tick the box.
Don’t want to export all of your Photos albums? Click ‘All photo albums
included’ and deselect anything from the list that you don’t need.
Click ‘next step’ and you’ll be
presented with several options. You can choose whether you’d like to back up
directly to another cloud service (such as Dropbox or OneDrive) or receive a download link via
email.
You can also change the compression file format and the maximum export
size, from 1GB to 50GB (anything larger will be split into separate
downloads).
Finally, you can choose to make it a
one-off download or schedule regular exports, every two months for a year. Bear
in mind that these exports won’t be limited to any new photos added since the
last backup, but will include your entire Photos library every time.
When you’re ready, click ‘Export’ and
Google will begin creating a copy of all the files in your Photos library.
Depending on the size of your library, this can take several hours. Once it’s
done, you’ll receive an email and can start downloading the backup copy to your
hard drive.
Find missing
photos & videos
When you turn backup
on, your photos will be stored in photos.google.com.

Step 1: Check your account
Some photos may look like they
disappeared because you’re in a different account.
You are currently signed in as happytohelpteam2019@gmail.com. Is
this the account you backed up your photos to? If not, sign out, and then sign
in with the correct account.
Step 2: Find photos from other apps like Facebook, or
Instagram
It may be in your device folders.
- On your Android phone or
tablet, open the Google Photos app .
- At the bottom, tap Library Albums.
- Under "Photos on
device", check your device folders.

recover deleted photos from google photos.
How to Backup Photos to
Google Drive

Login to your Google account
·
On the right hand side, click on the "Google apps"
menu

Click on "Drive". It opens up in a new tab

On the left hand side, right click on the "New" bar
and then click "Folder"
·
A window will appear. Choose the folder you wish to upload and
click
·
After uploading, click on the settings menu
·
Click on “Get Backup and Sync for Windows".

In a new tab, click "Agree and Download" and begin the
download
·
After the file gets downloaded, double click to begin the
installation. Google Chrome users can see the downloaded file at the bottom
left corner of the browser.

When Backup and sync ends downloading files, it gets installed.
You will receive notification post installation.

Backup and sync app opens automatically. If it doesn't open,
look for it using the search function in Windows 10.
·
Click on "Get Started" and start up Backup and Sync.
·
Choose what to do with the folders - a continuous backup for
photos and videos to your Google drive.
·
In the next window, "Documents", "Desktop"
and "Pictures" are already ticked. Untick the one you do not want to
backup.

You can always choose backup other folders by clicking the
folder link.
·
Check the storage pace in the Google account. Ensure ample
backup space for photos and videos.
·
Choose the upload size (high quality or original quality) of the
videos photos for backup. And is or not you want to upload them to the Google
photos.

Click "Next" for finishing configuring backup
settings.

Click "Got it" on the help screen
·
You can choose to synchronise either everything or all the
photos.
·
Click "Start" to complete the configuration.
